It’s probably best NEVER to disassemble your own Nokia as it will void your warranty. Worse, you could break something.
Having said that, the Nokia N8′s battery requires some minor disassembly to change it (you’ll only need to do things a few years into N8′s life if/when battery wears out. It’s your standard BL-4D). Avert your eyes if you do not wish to see the N8 dissected.
Tools required: Torx 4 screwdriver, torx 5 screwdriver, torx 6 screwdriver (not required for removal of the screen) plastic tool such as a guitar plectrum or credit card, hot air gun or hairdryer.
- First remove the torx 4 screws on either side of the phone.
- You can now pull the bottom cover off, as shown below.
- Turn the phone over and lift the black plastic battery lid from the point shown.
- With the battery lid removed your phone should look like below. Remove the battery by pulling the blue plastic tab, indicated by the arrow below, that's sticking out of the end of the phone.
